Triggers

Triggers can be used to detect when a specific string appears in the terminal and subsequently perform specific actions such as sending a string or executing a script.

To add a trigger keyword :

1. Select [Triggers] from the [Tools] menu. Result: The Triggers dialog box appears.
2. Click [Add]. Result: The Edit Trigger dialog box appears.
3. Enter a keyword you want to detect.
4. In [Action], determine the action to take when the keyword appears in the terminal.
   • Append Text
     If the string to be detected appears, the specified string is output.
   • Run Script File
     If the string to be detected appears, the specified script will be executed.
   • Launch Application
     If the detection string appears, the specified application is started.
   • Show Message Box
     If a string to be detected appears, a dialog box will appear displaying the specified string.
   • Use as URL hyperlink
     If you see a string to detect, replace that string with a URL string that contains the text you specify.
   • Flash the taskbar and windows
     When a string to be detected appears, the Xshell window and the Xshell icon on the taskbar blink.
   • Ring the Bell
     When a string to be detected appears, the system rings. System bells can be handled in various ways depending on the session's bell options (Advanced Bell).
5. Click [OK].

To delete a trigger keyword :

1. In the Trigger dialog box, select the keyword you want to delete.
2. Click [Delete].

To edit a trigger keyword :

1. In the Trigger dialog box, select the keyword you want to modify.
2. Click [Edit]. Result:  The Edit Trigger dialog box appears.
3. After modifying the keyword and action, click [OK].

 To apply a trigger keyword to a session :

1. In the Trigger  dialog box, select or deselect the keywords you want to apply by clicking their check boxes.
2.  Click Close to close the Trigger dialog box.
