Connecting host across network

Monday, April 30, 2007 11:15 PM - Seun

Hello,

I have difficulty in connecting to a Solaris remote host which is on a different network from my PC.There is no firewall on the network.
How can I go about this?

Hello there,

First, make sure TCP ports 6000~6010 are open on your PC.

Then, for XDMCP connection, network should be reachable by both ends of the connection. Try pinging from Solaris to PC and PC to Solaris. If it is reachable on both ends, then make sure dtlogin is running on the server.

If the network is not reachable by both ends, consult with your network admin. to reconfigure your network.

Otherwise, if you can connect using SSH, in xterm, type "/usr/dt/bin/Xsession &". This starts a CDE session for that user.
