Issue running some windows native application.

Friday, August 29, 2014 7:32 AM - Shuai

can not run DISM in latest Xshell 5 beta.

When I try to run "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth", I got following:

[C:\Users\test]$ DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Error: 11

You cannot service a running 64-bit operating system with a 32-bit version of DISM.
Please use the version of DISM that corresponds to your computer's architecture.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Log is attached. I am using latest windows 8.1 64bit OS. Do not have issue if ran the same command in CMD.exe.

Program Ver. : Xshell 5
Attachment dism.log (2.2 KB)

This problem probably occurs because Xshell is a 32bit application and Windows is trying to run 64 bit commands on it.

For now, you will have to use CMD.exe to use DISM. But, I will be sure to report this to our developers and make sure this issue gets discussed.
