UNIX/Linux machines identify printers by the IP address of where Xlpd is installed, thus you do not have to use different ports to setup two printers. Just give your printers unique names when setting them up on the remote Unix hosts.

If an LPR client program is installed in Windows machine, you can print documents on the machine through any Xlpd machine.

For further support, please let us know detailed configuration of your systems and network.

For example:

Machine A: Windows 2K with a printer
Machine B: Windows XP with a printer
Machine C: Unix box
Machine D: Windows 2K

You need to install Xlpd on Machine A & B.
I want to print documents on "machine C" to the printer on "Machine B".

The setup is Computer A : Win2k attached an hp laser 1100 printerComputer B : win2k attached a Star LC7211 printerI have installed and configure Xlpd on both machines, but when I use port 515 for the second printer, it says the port is already using please choose another one, thats why I m using 414 on computer B, while computer A is using port 515.On the client computers, I am using same port 515, bcoz if I use a port other than 515, print job does not go.With this setup, both printers are working at the same time, but once a clients' computer goes restart, port changes automatically to TCP/IP on the Computer A, here I change it manually to LPT1, otherwise client computers could not get the print jobs done.

First of all, you need to find the program that is using port 515 on Computer B. A freeware that will help to find it is in the download.com site:

http://www.download.com/Active-Ports/3000-2085_4-10121832.html?tag=lst-4-5

If you know which program is using the port 515, you can configure it to use another port.

Hope this helps you.
